Hey!
Last Tuesday, I grabbed a donut for breakfast.
I'd been crushing my new diet for three whole days. Feeling amazing. Energy through the roof. Then boom - one glazed donut and my brain decided the diet was over. Might as well order pizza for lunch, right?
Sound familiar? That's exactly what happens on the pickleball court, too.
Picture this: You're playing and everything's clicking. Serves are landing deep. Returns are crisp. You're in the zone. Then you hit one stupid ball into the net. Just one lousy netball.
But here's where it gets weird. That single mistake turns into a tornado of terrible shots. Your next serve goes wide. You miss an easy return. Now, you're second-guessing every single move.
Not only that, but you're feeling your partner's eyes shooting daggers into your back. Your face turns hot with embarrassment, and you want to turn around and let them know you're not as bad as they think you are.
You instantly go from "I'm awesome" to "I stink at this game." One mistake becomes twelve mistakes.
This happens to almost every player I know. Even pros. They'll have a great game going, then one error sends them spiraling. They get embarrassed and start playing not to lose instead of playing to win.
Over the years, I've had to build mental strategies to break this pattern. Little mind tricks to get back on track. Ways to reset after a mistake instead of letting it ruin everything.
Most players never learn these tools. They just keep making the same mistakes over and over. Then, they wonder why they can't play their best when it matters most.
Or they fear their pickleball buddies are going to find someone else who can actually hang with them.
Or maybe they’re still trying to find their pickleball buddies, and this little episode ruined their chances.
You have to learn to treat one mistake as one mistake and not the beginning of 12 mistakes.
The best part is I’m here to teach you how.
Starting July 7th, we're spending three weeks training the part of your game you probably spend zero time on - what's happening between your ears.
Oh, and the solution to the above? That’s going to get fixed on Day 3.
But only if you join us.
Because life is more fun when you’re good at pickleball. :)

P.S. And if you know someone else who struggles with one mistake turning into 20, invite them to take the challenge with you. Having pickleball friends makes life so much better.
