I finally switched paddles

Hey!

I don’t switch paddles lightly.

In fact, in all my years with Selkirk, I’ve only ever changed paddles one time.

I’m picky. Maybe even a little stubborn. But that’s because I know what I need to compete.

And this one—the SLK ERA—is the first time in a while I’ve felt that instant click. Like, yeah… this is the one. It checks every box.

And because of that, I’m making the switch. Now, before we get into the why, I’ll address the elephant in many group chats around the pickleball world.

“Selkirk is falling behind.” 

And honestly? When it comes to power paddles, that criticism has had some truth.

Even Selkirk would admit it. For the past year and a half, most of their sponsored pros have been using the Power Air, which was a great paddle, but struggled against the newer technology on the market.

But here’s what I respect about Selkirk:

See, back when power paddles started taking over the market, things were messy. Paddles weren’t passing tests, and Delamination was a thing. And the power level was getting dangerous.

And rather than being a part of the mess, they waited. Now, did they wait too long?

Actually Yes. I think so. I would have LOVED the SLK ERA 6 months ago. But as the Selkirk Owners have shared in a few recent YouTube videos. They’ve invested heavily in new testing equipment at their headquarters, and this SLK ERA is just the first of many new upgrades coming from Selkirk. 

Which… is kinda terrifying for the rest of the paddle world.

Here’s what I’m loving about the paddle. 

1. Big Sweet spot 

2. Strong power without compromising control (this is hard to accomplish)

3. Longer handle (not everyone will like this, but I do)

And you have two options for shape!
Wide body – faster hands, softer touch.
Elongated – extra reach, bigger drives.
