Hey Everyone,
Have you ever heard this? (or said it yourself).
“I drill a lot, but it’s not transferring to games.”
Here’s one reason why.
Many players practice the WHAT (the specific shot), but ignore the WHEN (the actual situation where that shot shows up).
Think about it for a second…
When you’re drilling, You're usually…
On balance,
Receiving predictable feeds &
Going 75% speed
You know exactly what’s coming next. But compare that to a real game. . .
You move more
There’s more pressure
Decisions happen fast.
And suddenly, you're processing a dozen things at once with very little time to think.
Which, of course, isn’t easy.
Now, the good news is, you can take one step toward fixing this right now. Here’s how.
Add context to every shot you practice by using this framework.
“Today, I’m working on (x)___ shot when (y) situation happens.”
So instead of just working on dinks.
You work on dinks from the right side when your opponent hits an aggressive roll dink.
See the difference?
Try this out when you go out to practice next.
Part 2 comes next Friday.
